Interview With A School Liasion Officer

With 2018 workshop bookings right around the corner, we've interviewed our peerless School Liaison Officer, Bec Yandell!

Why do you care about gender literacy?

I discovered the idea of gender literacy at a time when I was sick of having arguments in my personal life about gender issues. Learning about gender literacy gave me new skills and a new perspective that allowed me to start having productive conversations about gender. At this rate it's going to take us 140 years to achieve gender equality, and I think that gender literacy gives people the tools to speed that process up!

What is your favourite thing about facilitating workshops for Chalk Circle?

I love so much about facilitating, especially the energy we can create in a room - it's so much fun! I think for me, though, my absolute favourite moment in a session is when you can see that lightbulb moment, that second of realisation, when the student has started to see their world in a different way.

If you had one super power, what would it be?

I would love to be able to talk to animals! I mean, I already talk at them, but it'd be nice if they could answer back.
